PBS - Privatbanen Sønderjylland
Privatbanen Sønderjylland started out as the first privately run railway company in Denmark in 1998. It served the former DSB-lines Bramming - Grindsted and Tønder - Bramming - Esbjerg (the latter still being used for passenger services by DSB) and from Tønder across the border to Niebüll in Germany. Even as remote as Løgstør was serviced, the freight-only line from Viborg to Løgstør had been closed by DSB several years ealier. Also the line from Tønder via Tinglev to Sønderborg was serviced by the former DSB class MY dieselelectrics.
In 1999 PBS started hauling the Tinglev-Århus container trains for Maersk, which was the largest costumer. Activities was planned to expand further, but early 2001 the financial situation was poor.
The
company went bankrupt in the end of March 2001 and no longer exists!
The list below tracks the destiny of the locos formerly with
PBS.
- One class MY-locomotive, PBS MY 1148, was owned by the former
manager of the company, who apparently has started a new company
called "EuroRail Leasing", the loco is currently
stored in Niebüll, Germany.
- The other locos are now leased by TraXion,
also a new founded company with employees from PBS. The locos are
on lease from the bank who has the shares in the former PBS.
- MY 1132 was sold to TÅGAB of Sweden on 19. April 2001 and
hauled to Copenhagen on 20. April 2001. The loco will become TÅGAB
TMY 107.

power changes 2000:
- PBS MY 1116 was scrapped in Tønder in the beginning
of September.
- From DSB was bought MY 1148 in May 2000. The loco has been repaired,
equipped with the engine of MY 1120 and is being equipped with ATC.
- After originally being bought for spare parts PBS MY 1134 has
been repaired and equipped with ATC.
Motive
power changes 1999:
- From ØSJS Mx 42 has been leased
since 8. June 1999.
- From VNJ the shunter VNJ KF 16 has been
bought and is in use as Eurorail DL 1 "Jakob" since 6.
June 1999.
- PBS MY 1110 is being overhauled by the VLTJ workshop in Lemvig
- From DSB dieselelectric locomotive MY 1116 has been bought for
spare parts and moved to Tønder on 12. June 1999.
