Danish railways


In this part you'll find short descriptions of the various danish railway companies and operators

Danske Statsbaner - DSB
The Danish State Railways still operates passenger traffic in most parts of Denmark, including Intercity and regional services.

Railion Denmark A/S
In June 2001 the former freight part of Danske Statsbaner, DSB Gods, was merged into German-Dutch freight operator Railion and took over a number of locomotives and all freight wagons of DSB.

Banedanmark
Banedanmark, former Banestyrelsen is responsible for infrastructure, tracks, station buildings, timetables etc. on 2015 km of railway lines in Denmark. The split between operator DSB and track maintainance was done 1. january 1997.

Private Railways
The 14 private railway operators is running 499 km of railway lines in Denmark.

Industrial Railways
Although Denmark is not known for much heavy industry, there is still a few smaller industrial railways which has survived in to our days.

Preserved Railways
Several railway clubs provide tourist specials on both preserved railway lines and other lines still in daily use.
